Alice has just competed in the third round of the South Australian State Titles.
The weather was not too good with lots of rain, strong winds and choppy water; however Alice finished up winning 2nd in the under 18’s, and also 2nd in the Open Women’s.
This will qualify her to compete in the Open Women’s at National Surf Masters short board comp later this year at Port Macquarie.
Alice has already qualified for the junior national titles held later this year at Phillip Island.

Congratulations Bella!!!
Just before Bella went overseas she competed in board riders and came first in her division.
The High School had a selection for under 16 district surfing while she was away; Brad Lee was kind enough to let Isabella join without trialling, so she automaticly went into the High School district team. They had the competition on Friday last week; Bella won the final and will compete in the regional under 16 championships on 25 May. We are very proud of her, she really did well.
This photo of Bella was taken just as it was announced that she had come first.
She has also been chosen to represent northern district under 16 soccer, but as the game is on the same day as the regional surfing, she had to choose, and as you can imagine that wasn’t difficult for her, her surfing comes first!

With a record number of women’s entries, the Open Women’s was always going to be hotly contested.
The final came down to Alice Gilbert, Brinkley Davies, Min Cook and Grace McDonald. The race for the lead tipped and turned throughout the heat between Min, Grace and Alice, whilst consistent performer Brinkley Davies struggled to find the necessary waves.
In the final few minutes Alice Gilbert managed to connect three nice cutbacks to produce her second ever win in the Open Women’s.
“I am feeling really good, it was challenging but fun”, said Alice.
